Restaurants: Other Places

My finds outside the SF Bay Area.

San Luis Obispo

  • Buona Tavola 1037 Monterey, has an excellent atmosphere and a fantastic menu. They catered sooo well to Rick's son Neal. While we ate trendy pasta they fixed him up "just spaghetti with plain tomato sauce please." Good guys. 805.545.8000
  • Gigi's Cafe, 969 Monterey has weird interior. Very trendy looking, but the food is still good. 805.544.5888
  • Bistro le Fandango 717 Higuera. Fantastic Basque food. My friends from France said this was the best cassoulet they've ever had.

Laguna Beach

  • Partners, Exceptionally good food. Fantastic. Did I say it was fantastic? Afterwards get a truffle next door and some gelato next to that place.
  • Aegean Cafe, 540 South Coast Highway has very authentic Greek food. 949.494.5001

  • Island Boy Grille in Sorrento Mesa. An incredible island feast. Kailua Pig every day, Lomi Salmon too.  I really liked the Maui Ribs as well.   A little joint, but worth finding it. 452.7708

Napa

Trendy

  • The French Laundry in St. Helena.  My God, what an incredible meal!
  • Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena.  Go early enough for the tour of the class "rooms".

Santa Barbara

Brazilian
  • Cafe Buenos Aires offers outdoor seating on State Street AND they had feijoada when we were there.

Georgetown, Colorado

Bakery
  • Chris Cakes Bakery - 1400 Argentine.  303.569.3665  Just the best place to stop for a break.
