Jim Schrempp Demo'd Netflix streaming. Friend said "would it have that dragon girl movie?" We hadn't seen it. I said, "sure". She was impressed. Showed her how you can skip ahead to the middle. Up came a woman standing over some guy in bondage ready to do evil. "Yikes," said I. If you've seen the movie you know what I mean. This is why in software we say, "always run through the demo once before showing the customer." Hah.

Jim Schrempp I spent five weeks on a jury this summer. Here it us in the news. One error in the article - we found 100% for the plaintiff. CORRECTION: It was pointed out to me that we found there was not an intent to defraud, so the defendent gets that.

Jim Schrempp In a nice twist of fate UA flight full so the upgraded us on another flight and gave us $1000 in vouchers. UPDATE: Those vouchers suck. "Just like cash" the guy says. So to book a flight with them we have to go to the airport in person - who goes there if you're not flying out? Also, they have to be spent $250 at a time. Angela and I both flying to LA for $150 each? Have to spend $500 of the vouchers. It feels like United lied to us.

Jim Schrempp Someone said, "there was nothing else Whitman could have done." Really? What if she had said, "I'm sorry to hear that Nicky. I can't have you work for me any more, but I will pay for an immigration lawyer so that you are treated fairly." That would have been the right thing o do. That she didn't do this simple thing speaks volumes about her personality. Meg Whitman is unsuitable to be governor.

Jim SchremppNow THAT is a graph!
January 5, 2010 at 8:35 pm
B I feel that graph shows so much more but is not as dramatic looking. Expect to live to between 78 and 83, unless "they" spend less than $1600 per person.
January 5, 2010 at 7:25 pm
J Here's a graph of the Health Care info per Bob's complaint. I couldn't figure out how to get the graph into the comment stream so posted it here. Total spending doesn't have much impact until it gets low.
January 5, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Jim SchremppNice way to look at it, but can you make the x-axis scale to represent the actual values? I think the point of their chart was that for double the spending you might expect better outcome but you don't get it. I think your graph shows that spending more than 3000 per person per year does not yield any result - there is no marginal return so why make that investment?
