Places to Stay

I thought it would be nice to have a list of some places to recommend staying.

Aptos, CA

406 Coats Road - A beautiful old home on the buff above Sea Cliff beach. 180 degree view of the ocean.

Jackie's Place  A newer place just one block off the cliffs. Lots of glass in the upper story provides an airy space to relax.

Big Sur, CA

A friend recommended guesthouse along the coast that they said was spectacular. Contact: Bob Sayre    sayrebigsur @ aol . com.  He and his wife Lynda are wonderful and neat people. The guesthouse is a very special and wonderful place also.

Windsor, England

Clarence Hotel We stayed here in 2009 at 90 pounds for a double. Nice hotel right on the edge of downtown. An easy walk to the castle. Don't eat at the pubs across the street, walk a bit and get a better meal.

London, England

Manzi's on Leicester Square. Perfect for access to the theater. I haven't been there, but Paul swears by it. Small rooms - so what else is news?

Beaver Creek, CO

Poste Montane 970.845.7500  - These vacation condos were in an excellent location, just across the street from the hotels that border the ski lifts.  We had a fantastic room on an upper floor.  Vaulted ceiling, cute angles to the walls, but no view.

San Juan Bautista, CA

(close to Hollister)

Posada De San Juan 831.623.4030 - This is a newly renovated place right on the main street of San Juan Bautista. Our room was very large, including a fireplace, private deck, and a two person whirlpool bath. All for just over $100. This is a real great get away from the SF Bay Area.

Laguna Beach, CA

We used to love Eiler's Inn, but now it has been turned into something big and shi shi. Not for us.

San Luis Obispo, CA

Garden Street B&B  Nice and not too fru fru. Each room is decorated in a different baseball theme. (I could have done without that.) You are just one half block off the main drag. You should stay over a Thursday night so you can walk to the farmer's market.
